1 Timothy 3:16 – Seen By Angels

Seen By Angels
1 Timothy 3:16 records concerning the gospel of godliness, that Jesus was “seen by angels”. These heavenly servants announced his birth, aided after the Wilderness temptation, comforted in the garden, and opened his tomb:
“There was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it.” (CSB’17 Matthew 28:2)
I can contemplate three ways of how angels saw Jesus in His resurrection.
1. Jesus walked out prior to the stone being removed, since he could walk on water (Matthew14:25) and through doors (John 20:19). Did the angel see that miracle and then roll the stone away for others to witness the empty tomb?
2. The angel rolled the stone away. Inside laid Jesus awaiting the Holy Spirit to awaken Him from the dead (Romans 1:4). Then did the angel watch Jesus walk out in victory?
3. The angel rolled the stone away. Inside stood a waiting, awakened, resurrected Jesus by the Holy Spirit. Then did the angel watch Jesus triumphantly march out?
The gates of hades could not hold Jesus. Angels who longed to learn God’s plan (1 Peter 1), finally see God’s answer. Imagine being that chosen angel, or the two who sat at the foot and head of Jesus’s burial bed (John 20:12). Jesus was seen by angels!
Indeed, mystery of godliness is great (1 Timothy 3:16)!
