Isaiah 47:13 – Follow the Star to the Cross

Follow the Star to the Cross
Saved by What Condemns Us. I cannot count the ironies, paradoxes, and strange truths continually displayed when reading God’s word. This is the time of the year when people think of the Star of Bethlehem and men from the East bearing gifts. That star led these searchers to their King.
And yet, consider this scripture: “Let now the astrologers, Those who prophesy by the stars, Those who predict the new moons, Stand up and save you from what will come upon you” (Isaiah 47:13). This is a prophetic doom saying concerning Babylon. Babylon is in the East. Babylonians followed stars. There was no savior in these men and this path.
And here we are, what condemns, saves. Following stars is condemned; and following God’s star leads to the Savior. This pattern is another truth of the cross. The cross is a curse (Gal.3:13). The cross kills. The cross condemns us. The cross leads to the Savior and King who is our Savior. Follow the star to the cross.
