Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

1 Kings 21:7 – NASB vs. HCSB vs. ESV

1 Kings 21:7 NASB  Jezebel his wife said to him, “Do you now reign over Israel? Arise, eat bread, and let your heart be joyful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”

1 Kings 21:7 HCSB Then his wife Jezebel said to him, “Now, exercise your royal power over Israel. Get up, eat some food, and be happy. For I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”

1 Kings 21:7 ESV  And Jezebel his wife said to him, “Do you now govern Israel? Arise and eat bread and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”

The only important difference between the NASB, ESV and the HCSB and the NET Bibles is whether or not Jezebel’s first sentence is a question or a statement. The Hebrew simply says, “You, now, you are exercising kingship over Israel.”
