John 1:14 – The Incarnation, Trinity, and Temple

Does the Israelite Temple and Tabernacle foreshadow the Trinity to prepare God’s people?
1. The temple/tabernacle is where Yahweh would “put His name” and “rest”.
2. The temple/tabernacle was a physical dwelling of God among His people.
3. The temple/tabernacle was filled with the Shekinah or Glory of Yahweh.
Then Jesus appears:
1. Jesus is where God put His name calling Him His Son.
2. Jesus became a physical dwelling place of God among His people.
3. Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit declaring God’s glory.
The Incarnation is not a novel NT Christian creation. The temple of God foreshadowed it all.
John 1:14 (CSB)
The Word became flesh and dwelt (Lit. Tabernacled) among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
