Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Permission to Dishonor

I just discovered that I do not have to honor my wife when she is wrong, despite 1 Peter 3:7 saying I am to honor my wife as a co-heir of the grace of life.
Here is the argument:
1. God said to honor your wives (1 Peter 3:7).
2. God also said to honor the king (1 Peter 2:17).
3. But Christians keep dishonoring the government authorities when they disagree with them. (i.e., One can disagree while not dishonoring).
4. Therefore if Christians can choose to not honor the government authorities then husbands can choose to not honor their wives.
Wives, you are off the hook too!
1. Wives are told to submit to their husbands (1 Pet.3:1).
2. Christians are told to submit to the government authorities (1 Peter 2:13).
3. But Christians are all the time showing disrespect for the government authorities when they are wrong.
4. Therefore wives don’t have to submit to their husbands when they disagree with them.
Whew! I am so glad that we can interpret the Bible by our actions instead of having the Bible interpret our actions!
Election season is here – go ahead of dishonor the government. You might not have God’s permission, but you have each other’s permission.
