Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Acts 18:26 – NASB vs. HCSB vs. ESV

Acts 18:26 NASB  and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

Acts 18:26 HCSB  He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. After Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him home and explained the way of God to him more accurately.

Acts 18:26 ESV  He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

Each of these translations vary: “took him aside” (NASB); “”too him home” (HCSB); “took him” (ESV). Each of these are correct definitions of proslambanō.  When I look at the NASB, I see the Christian couple having a private conversation with their arms around Apollos. The HCSB shows what very well probably happened, because this teaching moment could have been extended. The ESV does not lend itself to any picture in my mind.
