The Motorcycle Wave

The motorcycle wave can teach us a lot about life, and spiritual life.
[ ] The motorcycle wave is when one biker passes another and he sticks out their left hand, low or straight out. If you don’t ride, you don’t know.
[ ] Not all wave. This is mainly those on a certain ride, who won’t acknowledge any other.
[ ] When people don’t wave, I’ve thought, “They are those stuck-up, better-than-your-bike bikers.” Admittedly, I haven’t waved because I didn’t see. Don’t you wish everyone gave the benefit of the doubt?
[ ] It’s nice to belong. Most riders are glad you’re on two wheels and not in a cage – mopeds don’t count. Belonging is a strong feeling.
So far this doesn’t sound like a spiritual article. But….
[ ] Being a Christian means knowing a few things outsiders don’t. Like, worshipping God isn’t a waste of a beautiful Sunday morning (Psalm 122:1).
[ ] Fellowship for some is all about power, such as with Diotrphes (3 John). When excluding leads to self-satisfaction, we are not satisfying God.
[ ] The Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12) isn’t followed as much as it is known. Friends complained a girl was stuck up because she didn’t say hello. They didn’t know she was hard of hearing. They did not give her the benefit of the doubt.
[ ] If one analogy of the church is more meaningful than others, it is family (Matthew 12:48-50). What do families do? By definition they belong to each other.
