Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

My Truth is Nuts

I spoke my truth and Janet laughed. But it was my truth so what right did she have to snicker? While listening to an acapella gospel song, I heard them sing “I am a squirrel”. Janet insisted they did not sing “I am a squirrel”. But I heard “I am a squirrel”.
Thankfully I’m not nuts because I know that what I heard was incorrect. I have a hearing problem. Admitting my own defect helps me to admit that the gospel singers didn’t sing “I am a squirrel” although I have no idea what they did say.
So what is the application?
1. Speaking “my truth” is not a substitute for reality, facts, and the truth.
2. Admitting our own defects and failures can lead us to greater realizations.
3. There are some things that are just obviously not true. Don’t let society make you squirrelly.
4. If you obviously misunderstand, give the other the benefit of the doubt and ask for clarification.
5. Ultimately and objectively, God decides what is truth and not our emotions, wants, and confusion.
“We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us; anyone who is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.” (CSB’17 1 John 4:6)
And yes, I know sometimes I am nuts!
