C.S. Lewis and I
- C.S. Lewis wore round glasses. I wear round glasses. Just sayin’.
- C.S. Lewis was a Christian apologist. I am a Christian who apologizes…a lot to my wife. Our similarities are so similar!
- C.S. Lewis was from a country that borders the Atlantic. I am from a country that borders the Atlantic. These similarities are eerie.
All the quips comparing me to C.S. Lewis were in fun, but the funny thing is, I have discovered that silly and satire often have serious points. For example, political conspiracy theories are founded on comparisons and coincidences. Even when interpreting the Bible, people can take similarities and comparisons too far, also. Just because the same word is used, does not mean the same topic is meant, for example “kingdom.” And just because two topics are similar, such as the Holy Spirit and the revealed word, does not mean they can always be interchanged. To easily, when searching the scriptures we are looking for something instead of seeing. I hope we all had fun, but also learned something too.
