The Philistine leaders promised Delilah 1,100 pieces of silver from each of them. How many were there? Don’t know (Judges 16).
The Jewish leaders promised Judas 30 pieces of silver. Total. The price of an injured slave.
Samson was wrecking their nation, including their economic well-being – Then he ignited the torches and released the foxes into the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned the piles of grain and the standing grain as well as the vineyards and olive groves (Judges 15:5).
All this got me thinking. The Philistines greatly valued getting rid of Samson. Judas sold Jesus out for 2.7% of what they paid Delilah if we only count the 1,100 pieces (probably more than double that though). Do we value our economic standing more than we value Jesus?
