TODAY’S PRAYER – Genesis 20

What do you have when you mix fear, ignorance, and rationalization? A mess that can mess with and mess up others. Abraham is fearful for his life because he thinks the people of Gerar will kill him and take Sarah. So he lies (again) saying she is his sister. Abraham is ignorant that God can talk to King Abimelech like he talks to him. And he rationalized that Sarah is his half-sister. God intervenes to keep Abimelech from sinning. “Oh gracious God, one above me understanding, please keep others from harm and sin against You due to my fear, ignorance, and rationalizations. Strengthen me in Your strength. Amen.”
