Psalm 8:5 – Abortion, Euthanasia, and Being Human

What does it mean to be human? While this sounds esoteric, it is very practical. This plays out in how people should determine decisions dealing with the value of life and death: in abortion, the mentally and physically handicapped, and euthanasia for the terminally ill. Does the Bible answer this question? As is the case in many issues, the answers are not found by this ancient book directly addressing modern issues; but by divine principles applied. Here are three statements that give us needed guidelines. Humans are:
1. Made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27-28).
2. Made a little less than God or angels (Psalm 8:5).
3. Made in the womb by God (Psalm 139:13).
Our humanity is not defined as being at the top of the animal chain; but rather being below God! When does this relationship begin? At creation and every conception.
