Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Titus 2:7 – People Are Watching

A housecoat; a Louis Vuitton purse; a fast food restaurant.  What do these three things have in common?  Absolutely nothing.  And yet, while visiting a fast food restaurant, my eye caught a lady with her trendy LV (Louis Vuitton) purse (unless it was a knockoff) standing in line wearing a housecoat.  I wanted to ask her, “What part of HOUSEcoat do you not understand?”  Then I thought, poor lady must be homeless and probably found the Louis Vuitton purse some where; and it was a little chilly.  But no, she had a wad of cash, was wearing what looked to be a nursing outfit, and said to the cashier that she was tired and going home.

I guess I could say “there is no accounting for taste.”  But I do not think she was trying to make a fashion statement.  I feel confident I could say that she did not care what anyone else thought, and that might not be a bad thing, ultimately.  Too many people wear clothes based upon society’s fashion – too tight, too short, too little, to next to nothing.  Maybe I could comment on what an odd mix this was – clothing worn in private, in a public inexpensive fast food restaurant, while carrying an expensive purse.  That is not so much as an odd mix, as it is just wrong.  Some things are just wrong!

And to be honest with you, I started this little excerpt with no point in mind at all.  I just had to let you know what I saw, because it was weird and wrong.  But since this is a bible based article, I have to say something spiritual.  And the most obvious lesson is, remember…people are watching…and hearing…and forming conclusions on our God because of us.
