Deuteronomy 12:32; Revelation 22:18 – Lane-Splitting

Lane-splitting is legal in California. That means a motorcycle can ride in between the cars in traffic if the pace is stopped or slow. The purpose is to alleviate traffic. BUT this is not about motorcycles so keep reading.
Lane-splitting is illegal in other states according to their statutes.
However, in some places it is “neither legal or illegal”. Huh? That is the exact phrase use when researching. That means it is not specifically mentioned in the law either yea or nay. And yet, a police officer here in NC, where lane-splitting is neither legal or illegal, can still give you a ticket. Why is that if there is no law that says you can’t? It’s because the law doesn’t have to specifically list everything that is illegal for something to be considered illegal. You can be ticketed for reckless driving, passing on the wrong side, or the whim of the officer. Clearly, lane-splitting not being permitted by law makes it doubtful, and within the right of the officer to cite you.
So…in California it is listed as legal. In other states it is listed as illegal. In some states the law is silent… yet you can still get a ticket for acting without permission. Apparently, silence does not permit. Maybe we should treat God with the same caution, because in both covenants He warns against doing that which is “neither legal or illegal.”
Deuteronomy 12:32 (NASB) “Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.”
Revelation 22:18 (NASB) “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book.”
