Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Perryism – You cannot obey God without love; you cannot love God without obedience. To love without obedience is self above God; to obey without love is rules above God.

Matthew 22:37-40 (HCSB) (37) He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. (38) This is the greatest and most important command. (39) The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. (40) All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” Therefore love is the motivation and foundation of practice and purpose, of God’s commands and our obedience, or our actions towards Him and others, both inward and outward. Every time Jesus said in His famous sermon, “You have heard, but I say to you” He pointed out that obedience is not obedience without love (Mt 5.43-48). Love therefore is a command, the command, and every command. And every command, all commands, and each command is love.
