Luke-Acts – What Jesus Began to Do and Teach: Jesus, Peter, Paul

The book of Acts is about what Jesus began to do and teach in His physical that He continued and continues to do and teach in His spiritual body, the church. The message is the kingdom. Seeing that Luke is the author of both Luke and Acts, let’s see how Jesus continued to do and teach through Peter and Paul. This also serves as a two-fold outline of Acts, comparing and equalizing Peter (1-12) and Paul (13-28).

  1. Jesus first sermon (Luke 4.15-27); Peter’s first sermon (Acts 2.14-40); Paul’s first sermon (Acts 13.13-41).
  2. Jesus casts out demons (4.31-37); Peter casts out demons (5.16); Paul casts out demons (16.16-18).
  3. Jesus heals lame man (Luke 5.17-26); Peter heals lame man (Acts 3.1-10); Paul heals lame man (Acts 14.8-10).
  4. Jesus wrongly rebuked for sorcery (Luke 11.14-15); Peter rightly rebukes sorcerer (Acts 8.9-24); Paul rightly rebukes sorcerer (Acts 13.6-12).

10. Jesus freed through resurrection (Luke 24.1-7); Peter freed symbolic resurrection (Acts 12.6-17); Paul waits for freedom symbolizing our wait for resurrection (Acts 28.30-31).
