Luke 5:8 – Leave Don’t Leave

I love irony and paradoxes. Within Christianity we see the irony of Peter’s action with his words as a paradox of love and fear. After seeing Jesus’ miracle in Luke 5, Peter’s body says the opposite of his words. His words are just as honest as his body, but they are seemingly contradictory – the paradox of love. His words say, “Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man” (Luke 5:8). His body went contrary to his words because he fell at the feet of Jesus (Luke 5:8). We cannot love God unless we first fear God. We know God should depart from us even though we cling in hope that He will not.
