Luke 21:1-4 – He’s Still Watching

We have all had it happen to us. For some inexplicable reason, we tangibly “feel” that which has no texture and no form. Never does it touch us, and yet inexplicably we can “feel” it. It’s presence is so powerful, amazingly it can wake us from a sound sleep minus any noise, nor even a light touch. What is it? The Stare.

Jesus is watching you and me at this very moment. How does that make us feel? I guess that depends on what we are doing!

Little children play with one eye on the playground and one eye on their parents. Even when they get lost in their fun, they know Mom or Dad are right there watching them. They are comforted by these watching eyes.

Young men playing sports always try to impress a pretty girl. If a particular young lady is present, watch out!  He’ll be able to jump higher, run faster, and throw harder all because he will want to impress those big, beautiful, watching eyes. Psst, this older man still does that when his wife of 36 years is watching!

A troubled youth, confused by a world of uncertainty and coldness compromises his conscience by using his God-given talents for evil. With a mask covering his face, or darkness hiding his deceit, his eyes dart to and fro, praying no one is watching.

A poor, lonely widow walks up to the treasury. Before and after her, people of wealth stood, waited, and watched as she and others placed their gifts to God in His temple. Some gave lavishly; she gave little yet more. Her gift wasn’t great, but her heart made it so. She gave all.

And Jesus was watching.

And He still is!
