Love Wins – 1 John 2:15

“Love wins” is a popular slogan for homosexual marriages. “Pride Parades” are advertised celebrations for the same lifestyle. I agree that love wins, but what does that mean?
Love wins, but only through the cross; not by denying what caused the need for the cross, which is our sin. Pride is destroyed by Christ’s humiliation. Notice Paul’s description of a Christian’s parade: 2 Corinthians 2:14-16: “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in Christ’s triumphal procession and through us spreads the aroma of the knowledge of him in every place. For to God we are the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To some we are an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life. Who is adequate for these things?” (CSB). The story behind that is the Roman parades after a vistory.
For Christians we face the same challenges as those who have pride in sin and love their lifestyles. Our love for all sinners must win. Any pride when comparing our sins to others is itself sinful.
Love wins because God is love, and when we accept the gift of that love through the cross of Christ that is how love wins. That includes not loving what killed Jesus: 1 John 2:15: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (CSB)
Love wins when we love God more than we love sins and ourselves. Destroy your pride before your pride destroys you.
