1 John 1 – Jesus is the Finale
Like music, the Bible has repeating patterns we must hear. Adam and Eve sin and are expelled from the Garden. King Saul sins and is expelled from his throne. Israel sins and is expelled from the land. And then comes the finale where the familiar theme is given a new twist: Jesus comes, doesn’t sin, and while it appears He too is cast out, on the cross the Son expels sin. Our life follows these patterns too. In the flesh we sin and God expels us from His fellowship. In Christ we expel sin (1 John) and continue in the fellowship of God. No wonder singing is a way we teach and admonish one another and glorify God. The Bible is the most glorious music ever written.
