A “Better” Argument Against Instrumental Music

A “Better” Argument Against Instrumental Music
Despite history showing instrumental music was not part of worshiping God for the majority of worship in “The Way”, and despite the hermeneutical arguments concerning silence and exclusion, neither way is probably the the strongest argument against instrumental music in worship.
When we view ourselves and bodies as God’s temple, home of the Holy Spirt, Jesus’s body in replica, then that strongly implies instrumental music is inferior to the new better way using the very common argument, both in scripture and in human logic, the “if-then” or “lesser to greater” thought process. Consider:
If:
1) Physical temple is inferior to the spiritual temple;
2) Dead sacrifices are inferior to and foreshadow our living sacrifices;
3) Incense ascending is inferior to and foreshadow our prayers ascending;
4) Limited priesthood is inferior to and foreshadow our universal priesthood;
Then:
5) Musical instruments – being physical, not living, sound rising and dissipating, and limited to a few –
6) Is inferior to mind, body, soul music – being spiritual, alive, rising to heaven, and universal.
Hebrews states Jesus as “the better way” which excludes the old ways even if not specifically mentioned.
