Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Are Atheists Actually Theists?

If an entity is powerful enough to create life, and is eternal having always existed; by definition what is that entity? GOD!

Now atheists hypothesize (i.e., believe) that it is probable (if not definite) that matter is eternal having never been created; and that the spark of life began in a heated moment called the Big Bang. That is an oversimplification, but I think I am representing atheists fairly.

Based on those two atheistic theories, atheists who believe matter is eternal and created life are by definition theists. Their god is Matter.

Not only are atheists theists, they also believe in miracles. They “preach” (the word just means to speak out) that this eternal Matter created life by a process of:
• Something coming from nothing.
• Life coming from non-life.
• And intelligent design coming from random chaos.

That is again, by definition, a miracle since it cannot be replicated by the scientific method and therefore is not “natural”.

Based upon this evidence through definition, atheists are miracle believing theists. The difference between them and us Christians is Who or What is our (g)God.

Or maybe, considering our God is eternal and creates life by His power, modern day atheists are like the ancient Athenians who worshiped “The Unknown God” (Acts 17:23)
“Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that you are extremely religious in every respect. For as I was passing through and observing the objects of your worship, I even found an altar on which was inscribed: ‘To an Unknown God.’ Therefore, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it — he is Lord of heaven and earth — does not live in shrines made by hands. Neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives everyone life and breath and all things. From one man he has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live. He did this so that they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’ Since we are God’s offspring then, we shouldn’t think that the divine nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image fashioned by human art and imagination. “Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has set a day when he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man he has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”” (CSB’17 Acts 17:22-31)

Notice how Paul believes that this “unknown” to them God is the giver of life, the Creator of all matter and therefore outside of the physical creation and does these things so that people might seek him and find him. The arguments used by atheists to prove there is no God can actually be used to prove there is a God. This is a God who gives proof that he wants to be known. Even atheists argue for an eternal life-giver!
