3 Stages of Accepting Truth:
1. Intellectually
2. Personally
3. Universally
I don’t know who first noticed this pattern but it is interesting to see how it does fit.
1. Truth is truth whether or not I accept it. Truth is objective.
2. Truth is truth, not because I accept it, and therefore I have to submit to it as it applies to me.
3. Truth is truth, and if it is so for me, it is so for others. Truth is outside of myself and therefore applies to all.
When we see, accept, and apply all three stages, truth Pilate’s question “What is truth?” becomes an arrogant denial that truth does not depend on any of us, is small enough to include each one of us, and is big enough to involve all of us.
