Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

God Does NOT Love Us Unconditionally

God does not love us unconditionally. He put conditions upon that love. “But”, you’re thinking, “John 3:16, John 3:16, Johb 3:16.” And that proves my point.
I can hear you asking, “Are you saying God’s love is conditioned upon us believing in Jesus?” Absolutely not! Romans 5:8 says, “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (CSB’17 Romans 5:8). God’s love for us is independent of our relationship with Him. Otherwise, how could Jesus, who is God in the flesh, tell us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, if God only loves those who love Him (Mt.5:44)?
However, I think I am beginning to see your confusion when I say God does not love us unconditionally. You thought I meant there are conditions God put on us before He would love us. That is absolutely incorrect. There are conditions on God saving us – “Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”” (CSB’17 John 8:24). But there are no conditions in God loving us.
Now that you are totally confused, let me clean up the mess I intentionally made to get your attention. The condition concerning God’s love is a condition His put on himself. His love required the sacrifice, the giving, of His own and only “begotten” Son. Agape Love is always conditioned and defined by our doing and sacrificing for the higher good, as we seek what is best for them. That’s John 3:16, John 3:16; John 3:16.
