2 Corinthians 8:9 – Jesus the Reject

Jesus the Reject (2 Corinthians 8:9): Jesus was born a reject in a stable because there was no room. Lived as a reject because nothing good can come out of Nazareth. Was unwelcomed as a prophet in His hometown. Associated with rejects such as lepors, sinners, prostitutes, and tax collectors. Unknown to common sense and world religions, this rejection represented something amazing.

Then life turned. The son of a carpenter became famous! Crowds, from other countries and His own nation, came to hear this man teach because Jesus was different. The sick came left healed; and Jesus could even cast out demons. He became more successful than any Rabbi as evidenced by all the crowds. Jesus the reject became accepted!

Then life turned and became cruel. He became infamous. Crowds, friends and family rejected Him. And it even appeared God forsook Him too. Jesus could have had everything, even kingdoms. Yet, and get this, He became a reject, then rejected the world, to save rejects like you and me. The Son of God became poor in this world to make us rich in God’s amazing grace (2 Cor.8:9). That’s why Jesus didn’t reject the cross; but instead He reached out His arms to embrace death. Unknown to all was the only way to save a world of rejects was to reject life so that The Life could reject death.

Through rejection, God in the flesh rejected our rejection from God – if we reject ourselves. Will you accept Jesus the reject?
