Acts 1:25 – NASB vs. HCSB vs. ESV

Sometimes choosing a translation of a word comes down to personal preference. The NASB (and ESV) translate diakonia as “ministry.” Sometimes I think we have formalized Christianity beyond what is intended in our minds, if not in reality. The HCSB reads, “service.” Doesn’t sound so official and authoritative, but then again, what did Jesus say about the greatest in His kingdom?
