The Grace-Gifts of Ephesians 4:11
Ephesians 4:11 mentions grace-gifts, but not all grace-gifts. The ones mentioned are, apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors/teachers. These are all teaching gifts. That is why these are listed.
But why in this order? Could it be a small chiastic list?
A – Apostles: Authority over All Congregations
B – Prophets: Inspired Preachers
B’ – Evangelists: Uninspired Preachers
A’ – Pastors/Teachers: Authority over One Congregation
If this works, this is another reason to consider pastors and teachers to be the same beyond the description of “some” before each except for “some pastors and teachers”.
