Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

What Do You Admire MOST About Jesus?

What do We Admire MOST About Jesus?
1. Is it His miracles?
They were fearful and amazed, asking one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the waves, and they obey him!”” (Luke 8:25)
• Then maybe we love power as our god.
2. Is it His righteous humiliation of His opponents?
“No one was able to answer him at all, and from that day no one dared to question him anymore.” (Matthew 22:46)
• Then maybe we love knowledge as our god.
3. Is it His authority to command even demons?
“Then it came out, shrieking and throwing him into terrible convulsions. The boy became like a corpse, so that many said, “He’s dead.” (Mark 9:26-27)
• Then maybe we love authority as our god.
4. Is it His compassion on the sick?
“When he went ashore, he saw a large crowd, had compassion on them, and healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14)
5. Or His mercy and friendship towards marginalized sinners?
“But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” (Luke 15:32)
6. How about His loyalty to forgive His enemies?
“Father, forgive them because they do not know what they are doing (Luke 23:34)?
7. Or His willingnes to show great love?
“No one has any greater love than to lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13)
If we would desire to imitate the power, arguments, and authority of Jesus, without incarnating Jesus’s compassion, mercy, loyalty, and love into our lives, then we are not willing to be a living sacrifice. Our desires are lusts to control others. Do we have as our God, ourselves?
We will never share in the omnipotent and omniscient abilities of Jesus; but what a privilege to at least display towards others the grace and mercy we have received. How we treat others displays our heart. Everything Jeus did is admirable, but we cannot recreate most of what Jesus did. However, if we focus on the “divine humanity” in how God incarnate treated others; then hopefully we love the God of heaven and earth as our God.
