Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Grace Is God’s To Give Not Ours To Demand

Grace is God’s to give; not man’s to demand. No one of course would be blatant enough to admit they demand God’s grace; but words speak louder than we realize. Words such as, “It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission” demands grace. Words such as, “Authority is not needed since we are under grace not law” demands grace for what we decide to do. Words such as, “I can always ask for forgiveness later” demands God must forgive because I ask. When we stop trying to be as righteous as we can, when we stop seeking to be as restrictive as God’s authority can be, and then claim God’s grace; aren’t we demanding when God’s grace is God’s to determine to give? “One’s attitude toward worship is reflected in his attitude toward life in general. At the root of the sin problem in Judah was worship which presumed that God had an obligation to continue being gracious.” (James Smith, Jeremiah, p.211)
