Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Romans 12:1-2; Hebrews 13:15-16; Leviticus – Worship without Sacrifice is Just Words

Incentives or motivation for righteousness in the OT was very personal, even “base” by New Covenant standards. And yet, sometimes what sin “costs” us can and should be motivating; it can cost us relationships, self-respect, all more important than money, and yet…. Imagine the personal financial cost of offering sacrifices in bygone years. You sinned, it cost you a bull, or lamb, or bird depending on your wealth. Rather simplistic I know, but would that make you think twice? Would you wonder, “is it literally worth it?” And yet the sacrifice for us cost Jesus everything. Do we take it His sacrifice personally? What are we sacrificing today? “Worship without sacrifice is just words” (unknown).
