Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

Matthew 22:20; Mark 12:16; Luke 20:24 – Render Jesus to God

Remember Jesus saying to render to Caesar the things that are Cesar’s and to God the things that are God’s? The same word, eicon, is used there as here. People have often wondered what all Jesus encompassed by the second phrase, “the things that are God’s.” Could the Jews have missed what Jesus was really saying? Could this have been another one of His claims to divinity? If we are the image of God, then we must give ourselves to God and the Jews must give themselves to God’s purpose of accepting Jesus. If Jesus is the image of God, then the Jews must give acknowledgement that He is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. In the end, they gave Jesus to God, when the expiring Jesus said, “Into Your hands, I commit My Spirit.”
