John 14:6; 1 Kings 6:12-13 – The Way, the Truth, and the Life
The gospel of John is written in an order mimicking the Tabernacle and Temple. That got me thinking about Jesus’ statement, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (Jn.14:6). Could there be a parallel statement about the Tabernacle or Temple? When Solomon is building the temple, Yahweh comes to Solomon and says, “As for this temple you are building (Jesus is soon to enter the Holy of Holies in John 14), if you walk (the Way) in my statutes (the Truth), observe (the Way) My ordinances (the Truth), and keep (the Way) all My commands (the Truth) by walking (the Way) in them (the Truth), I will fulfill My promise (the Life) to you, which I made to your father David. I will live (the Life) among the Israelites and not abandon My people Israel” (1 Kings 6:12-13). Man has failed in all these, so Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
