Biblical truth standing on its spiritual head to get our eternal attention.

I am of Me

The truth is, who speaks the truth matters too much. If we respect or just like the person, that matters too much also when it comes to accepting truth. If we are part of the same religious “tribe”, that matters too much in determining truth. We all have experienced that the WHO matters too much. What I have personally noticed is sometimes, the most important person to us who also matters too much is – us. Have you ever gotten upset, aggravated, hurt, and a host of other negative reactions when someone, anyone, pointed out a truth that you already knew and accepted; except you didn’t appreciate “them” pointing it out? When we are the preferred one to show us our flaws, we are as guilty as preferring our favorite person or preacher. Instead of being “I am of Cephas” or “I am of Apollos” or “I am of Paul”, we are “I am of me” (1 Corinthians 1:12).
