Galatians and Santification

Sanctification is something every “religious” person wants, and because of that we often contrive ways opposite of God’s to achieve it. Many of Paul’s epistles are reactions to false sanctification. Freedom in Galatians is a difficult concept to understand because freedom is often misconstrued which even the Galatians did. “Do not use your freedom for….” The most dangerous reaction to freedom is selfishness, which is walking by the flesh.

The point in Galatians is that because we are saved by crucifixion, not by laws, we are changed by crucifixion, not by laws. Galatians is about God giving us a fresh start through faith. Because we are saved by crucifixion, we are led by the Spirit. It is common to ask WWJD, but Galatians also asks what would the Holy Spirit want me to do. When every decision, every thought, is touched by wanting to be like God, because God died for me, that changes, transforms, and sanctifies me.
