Advice to young preachers and old – God’s gifts to you are different than for others (1 Pet.4:11). It is easy to consider what comes easy, or is enjoyable as spiritual gifts. Those might simply be natural. It is likewise easy to dedicate the majority of your time to what you consider your gifts. So what is the conclusion? Open yourself up to what might be uncomfortable. Don’t feel guilty if you find more time being spent in one area than another. However, don’t neglect all the work God has called a preacher to do. Finally, give God the glory. If there is one uncontestable fact, it is we preachers can think more highly of ourselves that we ought (Rom.12:3; 2 Corinthians 10-12).
